Black Sabbath: Tony Iommi to launch limited edition signature guitar

Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath will launch a limited-edition signature guitar this summer with instrument maker Epiphone.

The new Ltd. Ed. Tony Iommi Signature model was designed by the guitarist; more details will be revealed in the coming months.

Ahead of the guitar’s release, Iommi will make a special appearance at the Epiphone Booth to sign autographs during the Musikmesse Trade Show in Frankfurt, Germany.

The guitarist will appear at the event on Friday, April 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hall 4.0 Booth J60.

Iommi previously teamed with Epiphone for the Tony Iommi Signature G-400 model.

The guitar icon is the focus of the forthcoming collection, “Great Lefty: Live Forever. Tribute To Tony Iommi Godfather Of Metal”, a compilation featuring new interpretations of the work of the Black Sabbath guitarist.

Due May 4, the first-ever tribute to the pioneering musician is the brainchild of Iommi supporters and Facebook communities Tony Iommi The Man The Master The Legend and Global Black Sabbath Convention.

The set includes participation from former Sabbath and Heaven And Hell drummer Vinny Appice, former Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin, Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau, Hugh McDonald (David Bromberg, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Lita Ford), Mark Boals (Savoy Brown, Malmsteen, Dio Disciples, Dokken) and many others.

All of the songs presented on the compilation have been kindly donated for the cause as profits from the sales of “Great Lefty” will be benefit Macmillan Cancer Support in London.

Iommi was diagnosed with blood cancer lymphoma in January of 2012 and has been in an out of treatment for the health issue in the past few years while managing to both record and perform a world tour in support of Black Sabbath’s 2013 album, “13.”
