Chris Cornell announces tour of New Zealand and Australia

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell has announced dates for a solo acoustic tour of New Zealand and Australia.

Cornell will perform three shows in New Zealand in November before playing another six in Australia.

Tickets for all shows go on sale to the public on Monday, June 1.

Cornell finished recording his fourth solo studio album in March and it is due for release this fall – in advance of the trek.

The singer began recording the project in mid-January before heading to Australia with Soundgarden in February to perform as part of the Soundwave Festival series.

Cornell has released four solo albums to date, including “Euphoria Morning” (1999), “Carry On” (2007), “Scream” (2009) and the acoustic live album, “Songbook” (2011), from his tour of the same name.

Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil has revealed that the Seattle band plan to release a new album in 2016.
