VIDEO: Tom Waits performs new song for Letterman farewell

Tom Waits made his 10th and final appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman on May 14.

The singer/songwriter joined the host – and first guest George Clooney, who handcuffed himself to Letterman earlier in the program – for a chat on a variety of topics before heading to center stage to debut a new song, “Take One Last Look.”

“This is for you, Dave,” said Waits as he introduced the song, on which he was accompanied by an accordionist and upright bassist.

"I don't know when I will see Dave again,” said Waits after the show. “I guess from now on we’ll have to settle for bumping into each other at pilates."

The singer’s appearance comes in the final week of broadcasts by Letterman, who will deliver his farewell program on Wednesday, May 20 after more than three decades in late night.

Waits’ latest release is 2011’s “Bad As Me.”
