Black Sabbath to headline Download festival

Black Sabbath will headline the Download festival at UK’s Donington Park on June 11.

“Download is my absolute favourite summer festival,” says Ozzy Osbourne. “It’s always like coming home. See you all there.”

Tickets for the annual weekend event – which includes a closing night set by Iron Maiden – will go on sale on this Friday, October 23.

The appearance is part of the group’s farewell tour, which will see three-quarters of the original lineup – Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler – perform around the globe one final time.

Original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward will once again sit out the tour over contractual issues with the band and personal issues with Osbourne over remarks in recent years.

Billed as “The End”, the group’s final run will begin in North America on January 20 before dates in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
