Deep Purple confirm plans to record new album

Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse has confirmed the band will enter the studio in the New Year to record the follow-up to 2013’s "Now What?!"

“We’ve been working on material over several writing sessions,” Morse tells the Guitcast podcast, “and we have more session before we actually start recording about the middle of January with Bob Ezrin, the producer that did such a great job with the last one.”

Deep Purple were named among the nominees for induction into the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The band are under consideration among 14 other artists for one of five spots in the Cleveland-based institution alongside Cheap Trick, Yes, The Cars, Steve Miller and more.

Deep Purple recently issued a pair of live albums, including “From The Setting Sun… (In Wacken)” - which sees the group captured in concert at Germany’s Wacken Open Air Festival in 2013 - and “…To The Rising Sun (In Tokyo)”, which presents the group live at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo in April of 2014.
