Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx confirms Guns N’ Roses reunion

Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx has says the much-rumoured Guns N’ Roses reunion is happening.

Asked during a Twitter Q&A if he belives GNR should reunite for a tour, Sixx responded in all capital letters, “They are. Everybody knows.”

While the bassist did not elaborate further, he will regroup with former GNR guitarist DJ Ashba next year for a new album release and tour as Sixx:AM once the Motley Crue farewell run wraps up on New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles.

Speculation about a 2016 GNR reunion has gone into overdrive in the past week based on a media report, a series of tweets by the group and a possible leak by a friend of the band caught on video.

A Dish Nation report quotes a music industry insider as saying the band are ”days away” from announcing a world tour following a reconciliation between Axl Rose and Slash earlier this year.

“Slash and Axl have verbally agreed to get things together again and reform the original band,” says the insider. “The live shows are where they can show the world what they had and also make the greatest earnings.

“Promoters are quietly working away to land opportunities. Details of the reunion are expected to leak out in the next few days. Everyone is expecting huge demand for tickets, but the boys are very humble and are not sure what to expect.”

The Use Your Illusion-era lineup of Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, Dizzy Reed and Gilby Clarke last performed together at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 17, 1993.

Guns N’ Roses last live shows took place as part of the band’s 2014 residency at the The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
