Guitar Player magazine will present the second annual Rock The Nation award to the winning young prodigy guitarist this year at the memorial show, which will be attended by Ronnie's wife.

Montrose’s legacy includes working with Van Morrison – for whom he created the iconic guitar riff for the classic song “Wild Night” – and the Edgar Winter Group, where he crafted heavy riffs on songs like “Free Ride” and “Frankenstein.”

But it would be his self-titled release, “Montrose”, that would become a cornerstone of American hard rock.

The 1973 debut delivered classics like “Rock the Nation”, “Bad Motor Scooter” and “Space Station #5”, laying the ground work and sonic template for bands like Van Halen and countless others.
