Ozzy Osbourne explains cameo in new Ghostbusters film

Ozzy Osbourne explains how he landed a cameo role in the new “Ghostbusters” film.

The rocker reportedly appears briefly in a scene that takes place at a concert by the fictional metal band Beasts Of Mayhem. After a ghost appears during their show, Ozzy – who is watching from the side of the stage – asks wife and manager Sharon if he's dreaming.

"Someone called, and I said yes,” Ozzy tells the New York Post. “The original had been a big film in our household, when the kids were younger. My children were probably more excited than I was about me being in the new film.

"I was only on the set for a few hours. And even though I was not in a scene with the ladies, they all came around to say hello. I felt very honored."

Directed by Paul Feig, "Ghostbusters" stars Kristin Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in the third feature film in the franchise, which began in 1984.

The movie recently scored an opening weekend US box office take of $46 million.

Osbourne and Black Sabbath just completed the latest European leg of their farewell tour.

The band will launch their final North American shows at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in New York on August 17; the trek will be followed by dates in Latin America late in the year and a final 8-show UK/Ireland run early next year.
