Metallica pay tribute to Lemmy in Murder One video

Metallica are paying tribute to late Motorhead frontman and friend Lemmy Kilmister in a newly-released Robert Valley-directed animated video for the track “Murder One” from their album, “Hardwired…To Self Destruct.”

"'Murder One' was the name of Lemmy's amplifier, his favorite amp on stage,” explains guitarist James Hetfield. “And I loved being murdered every night by that thing, man. He was just such an icon, such an inspiration to us as a band.

"There's certainly no way we'd be around if there was no Motorhead. And, you know, to see your idol, your immortal one, actually be mortal, it hit us pretty hard. So I felt, lyrically, it makes sense to acknowledge him and how much he's meant in our lives."

Lemmy passed away at his Los Angeles home on December 28, 2015 at the age of 70.

Due November 18, the two-disc “Hardwired…To Self Destruct” was produced by Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich and Greg Fidelman.

A Deluxe Edition of the package adds a bonus disc of rarities and covers, including takes on tracks by Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and Rainbow, and the group’s full set at Rasputin's in Berkeley, California on Record Store Day 2016 to celebrate the reissues of “Kill 'Em All” and “Ride The Lightning.”
