Roger Waters reveals release date for new album

In a newly-issued video featuring studio footage, Roger Waters has revealed a May 19 release date for his forthcoming album, “Is This The Life We Really Want?”

The bassist’s first original record in 25 years will surface one week before the May 26 launch of a North American tour in Kansas City, MO.

Waters has been working with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich in London and Los Angeles on the project, which marks the follow-up to 1992’s “Amused To Death.”

The former Pink Floyd member is looking forward to his arena trek after a series of tours playing stadiums.

“I’m very excited about going back into arenas,” says Waters in a new video. “I’ve always loved rock and roll theater. In the mid-70s was when it started, really; that’s when rock and roll started moving into hockey arenas and basketball arenas, and it became apparent to a few of us that putting four or five little blokes on a stage 400 yards away from blokes sitting in the back seat was not enough and that we needed to create a new form of theater to fill auditoriums that were not auditoriums but were hockey or basketball arenas.”

Waters recently expanded his 2017 Us + Them North American tour with the addition of eleven new concert dates.

Nine cities – including Oakland, San Antonio, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Nashville, Cleveland and more – join the trek alongside additional nights in Los Angeles, CA and Denver, CO.
