Steve Perry streams cover of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

Steve Perry is thanking fans for their support of his return to music in 2018 with an audio stream of his version of the holiday classic, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”

The former Journey singer resurfaced with “Traces”, his first solo effort since 1994's “For The Love Of Strange Medicine”; introduced by the lead single, “No Erasin’”, the project debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 this fall.

Perry recorded the set at his home studio – with only strings done at Capitol Records – alongside co-producer Thom Flowers; the record features nine original tracks alongside a cover of The Beatles“I Need You.”

While Perry was with Journey, he and the band notched seven US top 10s – from 1980’s “Departure” through 1996’s “Trial By Fire” – but “Traces” earned the singer his first solo US top 10 album on the chart.

“This has been a big year of firsts for me,” says Perry. “In keeping with that spirit, I thought I'd record a little Christmas card song and send it out to you to thank you for all of your kindness in welcoming me back.

“Have yourself a merry little Christmas. I hope you enjoy it.”
