Sammy Hagar's second annual High Tide Beach Party cancelled

Sammy Hagar’s second annual High Tide Beach Party & Car Show has been cancelled after failing to secure the necessary permits for the event.

“Due to being denied the necessary permit submitted on 12-26-18 from California State Parks the High Tide Beach Party & Car Show scheduled for September 28 & 29, has been canceled,” reads a statement on the festival’s website. “Unfortunately, there is no possibility to relocate the event. All ticket holders will automatically receive a refund through official ticketing outlets Front Gate Tickets and GroupOn.”

According to the Orange Country Register, California State Parks said that the production company “did not meet permit requirements”, in a press release issued on September 20.

Sate Parks Superintendent Kevin Pearsall said the event’s production company, Freeze Management, hadn’t paid all fees for the festival, including those related to public safety. He said the company also failed to produce contracts for sanitation services and hadn’t provided safety documentation for the main stage as required by California State Parks and the Office of the State Fire Marshall.

“For the first time ever, that I’ve experienced, we are a week out and we were unable to collect fees for any of the required elements of the permit, which included law enforcement, medical and fire,” Pearsall said. “We couldn’t get any of the documents from (Freeze Management) to finish up the Fire Marshall element or the ABC license. Everything has timelines and limits and every single one of them were not met.

“We decided today, at this point, with literally nothing in place, the best thing to do was not to approve the permit.”

“I was surprised and very disappointed to learn of the cancellation,” said Hagar in a statement issued through his publicist. “More than anything, I’m just sorry to inconvenience the fans.”

Scheduled for September 28 and 29 on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in Huntington Beach, CA, the two-day event was to see performances by Sammy Hagar & The Circle with special guest Richie Sambora, The Beach Boys, Vince Neil, Night Ranger, Blue Oyster Cult, Extreme, Steel Panther, Tony Lewis from The Outfield, Patty Smyth and Scandal, and more, while the Car Show was to feature a collection of luxury, exotic, European, custom, classic, movie and hyper cars.
