Pink Floyd announce expanded Delicate Sound Of Thunder reissues

Pink Floyd will release a series of expanded reissues of their 1988 live package, “Delicate Sound Of Thunder”, on November 20.

The band were captured during their tour in support of the 1987 album, “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason”; the trek marked the group’s first since the departure of founding members Richard Wright and Roger Waters, with David Gilmour and Nick Mason continuing to move forward under the Pink Floyd banner (Wright returned for the album and live series as a salaried musician, just as he did for “The Wall” shows years earlier).

“Delicate Sound Of Thunder” was filmed and recorded during a 5-night run at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY in August of 1988, delivering a setlist that balanced the then-new material alongside classic tracks.

Originally directed by Wayne Isham, the concert was completely re-edited from the restored and upgraded footage by Creative Director Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell and editor Benny Trickett for the 2019 box set, “The Later Years.”

The 2020 reissue series will be available in multiple formats and configurations, including Blu-ray, DVD, 2-CD, 3-disc vinyl and deluxe 4-disc edition with bonus tracks.

The Blu-ray and DVD editions are re-edited from the original restored 35mm footage and feature audio remixed from the original master tapes.

The 2CD set features 8 songs not included on the original 1988 release, while the 3LP version adds 9 songs to its package, with both rounded out with a 24-page booklet.

The 4CD Deluxe Box Set edition includes the 2-CD (23 Songs), Blu-ray (21 songs inc. 5 Bonus Tracks) and DVD (21 songs inc. 5 Bonus Tracks), a 40-page booklet, a double-sided poster and 5 postcards

The audio packages re being previewed with the 2019 remix of “Learning To Fly.”

News of the fall releases follows word that Pink Floyd will screen “Delicate Sound Of Thunder” in cinemas worldwide on October 15; full event details are available at
