Metallica mark Master Of Puppets 35th anniversary on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Metallica marked the 35th anniversary of their 1986 album classic, “Master Of Puppets”, with a performance on the March 3 episode of CBS-TV’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

The band delivered the record’s opening track, “Battery”, during the program while appearing before the backdrop from the Damage, Inc. tour.

“Soooo much fun to be back on the @colbertlateshow again celebrating 35 years of Master of Puppets, firing up Battery, and dusting off the old wrinkled backdrop...”, shared drummer Lars Ulrich on Instagram. “Actually, considering what craziness its been exposed to over its lifetime, it’s in remarkably good shape..(the backdrop that is!!).”

The group’s major label debut, “Master Of Puppets” became thrash metal's first platinum album on its way to US sales of more than 6 million copies.

The project was among 25 sound recordings selected for induction into the US Library Of Congress National Recording Registry in 2016.
