Ghost wins American Music Award for Impera as Favorite Rock Album

Ghost won the inaugural Favorite Rock Album category with “Impera” at the 2022 American Music Awards event in Los Angeles, CA on November 20.

The project was voted by music fans as the top winner in the field, ahead of projects by Coldplay (“Music Of The Spheres”), Imagine Dragons (“Mercury: Act 1”), Machine Gun Kelly (“Mainstream Sellout”) and the Red Hot Chili Peppers (“Unlimited Love”).

Nominees in 37 categories were selected based on key fan interactions through Billboard charts, including streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay, and tour grosses.

“Children of the World!,” shared A Nameless Ghoul on social media. “From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank ALL OF YOU FANS for all the energy, time and devotion you put into making sure WE WON THE “FAVORITE ROCK ALBUM” AT THE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS tonight! This is entirely thanks to you. You f**kin’ rawk. Thank you.”

Produced by Klas Åhlund, the album was launched with the lead single, “Hunter’s Mooon”, which was featured in the 2021 “Halloween Kills” movie and companion soundtrack for the latest installment of the “Halloween” film franchise.

“Impera” delivered a career high for Ghost when it debuted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200, besting a No. 3 position with 2018’s “Prequelle.”

Ghost will launch a spring 2023 European tour in France next May 21.
