Journey change Don't Stop Believin' lyrics at NFC Championship Game

Journey changed the lyrics to their 1981 smash, "Don’t Stop Believin’", during a halftime performance at the NFC Championship Game in Santa Clara, CA on January 28.

The NFL event at Levi’s Stadium saw the hometown San Francisco 49ers hosting the visiting Detroit Lions for a divisional title that would see the winner head to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, NV on February 11.

Journey – who formed in San Francisco in 1973 – changed the “Don’t Stop Believin’” lyrics from "just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit" to "born and raised in San Francisco."

In viral video of the performance, Detroit Lions fans in attendance can be heard delivering the original words, "South Detroit."

Journey’s 4-song halftime performance featured "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)", "Be Good To Yourself", "Any Way You Want It", and "Don't Stop Believin'".

Journey will continue its 50th anniversary Freedom Tour package – with special guests Toto – in Biloxi, MI on February 9, and join Def Leppard for a series of summer dates later this year.
