Singer Joe Elliott and guitarist Phil Collen answer the latest question – “what has been the biggest obstacle for you to overcome as a group?”
“Probably [drummer] Rick [Allen]’s accident,” begins Joe. “Possibly [guitarist] Steve [Clark]’s death…possibly grunge music.”
On December 31, 1984, Allen lost his arm in a car accident; although it was severed and re-attached, infection set in and doctors amputated the limb.
In 1991, while on a six-month leave of absence from Leppard, Clark died of an overdose of a combination of alcohol and multiple prescription drugs.
