Soundgarden: Dave Grohl talks about directing By Crooked Steps video

Soundgarden brought in Dave Grohl to direct their video for “By Crooked Steps,” a track from their new album, “King Animal.”

The video shoot took place in mid-December, and it might not have happened at all without a push by the Foo Fighter to put something together for the group.

“I called my manager and said ‘I think I have an idea for a Soundgarden video’," Grohl tells Fuse TV. “I wrote out the idea and I sent it to the drummer [Matt Cameron], and he said, ‘Ya that’s kinda cool, I don’t really know if we’re going to make a video.’ And so we kinda made them make the video.”

Grohl recently released his first film, “Sound City,” which chronicles the story of the Van Nuys, California studio of the same name, where music legends recorded major projects throughout the years – including Nirvana’s 1991 smash, “Nevermind,” which featured Grohl on drums.

This past Sunday, the final date of Soundgarden’s current North American tour was filmed for later broadcast by the television series “Live From The Artist’s Den.”

The three-time New York Emmy-Nominated music television series features popular recording artists performing in non-traditional settings throughout North America.
