AC/DC: Bon Scott hometown statue fundraising begins

Last weekend, AC/DC fans gathered in Kirriemuir, Scotland for Bon Fest 2013, the annual event that celebrates the life and music of the late AC/DC frontman, who died in 1980 at the age of 33.

The Courier reports a bid to raise £50,000 to erect a bronze statue of the legendary singer in the town in time for next year’s Bon Fest was launched at the event.

Organizers DD8 Music have commissioned renowned sculptor John McKenna to produce a work of art that exemplifies Bon's spirit and his Scottish roots.

Bon Scott was born Ronald Belford Scott in Forfar in 1946 and lived in Kirriemuir until 1952, when his family moved to Australia.
