Metallica’s Lars Ulrich is at the Cannes Film Festival to promote, screen and attempt to secure international distribution for the band’s upcoming 3D movie, "Through The Never".

The band have teamed up with sales company Exclusive Media to shop the movie to potential distributors.

"After wading through multiple international distribution options for our film, we are excited to be partnering up with the folks at Exclusive Media, who we feel understand Metallica and understand our film better than anyone else," said Ulrich. "Throw in the cherry-on-top, launching our international sales with a couple of screenings at the film market during a little up-and-coming film festival in Cannes, and it feels like we're off to a pretty rockin' start."

Starring Metallica, a cast of thousands of their fans and actor Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, The Amazing Spider-Man 2), “Through The Never” is written and directed by Nimród Antal (Predators, Kontroll).

The film tells the story of a band crew member (played by DeHaan) who is sent out on a mission during Metallica's live set in front of a sold-out arena; while on this mission, he unexpectedly has his life turned completely upside down.

In the fall, Metallica will debut “Through The Never” in IMAX theatres across North America for a one-week engagement starting Friday, September 27.

The film will then expand into additional theatres on October 4.
