Ozzy launched his solo career with “Crazy Train” as the lead single from his debut, “Blizzard of Ozz”, after being fired by Black Sabbath in the spring of 1979; the project featured ex-Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads, lyricist and former Rainbow bassist Bob Daisley, former Uriah Heep drummer Lee Kerslake, and session player and Rainbow keyboardist Don Airey.
The album reached No. 21 on the US Billboard 200 album chart upon its original release, while going on to sell more than 5 million copies in the region.
Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025 at the age of 76, just weeks after he and Black Sabbath both delivered their final performances in a farewell event at Villa Park in their hometown of Birmingham, UK on July 5.
