Joe Elliott surprises fans during Def Leppard Las Vegas residency

Joe Elliott recently surprised fans during Def Leppard's Las Vegas residency, and are sharing video footage from the show.

The series – which kicked off at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on February 3 – features a mix of Def Leppard’s classic tracks and hits from throughout their career alongside some surprises in the mix, as well as featuring the live debut of the UK group’s latest single, “Rejoice”, which arrived just ahead of opening night.

"This song's been an amazing journey from concept to conclusion,” says Elliott. “I said to Phil [Collen] one day, 'I've got this idea for a lyric where the narrator is at absolute rock bottom and wants to rise up to a higher level. Do you have a musical piece that might match with that?' And he said, 'As it happens, yes I do.'"

"I had this riff, this idea for a song a while ago actually,”
adds Collen, “so when Joe came to me I created this drum loop based with a tribal sound and it fit perfectly with this other arrangement I had. I sent it to Joe and it was like magic - he sang straight over the top of it. And that's how the song was formed. Then we gave it to Ronan [McHugh] who'd done a proper drum loop with different sounds. It all started gelling and just sounded like a powerful chant. We love it. It's hard rock for us. It's got a bit more of an 'oomph' than stuff we've been doing for a while. It's kind of magical."

“Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency” runs through February 28.

These new shows follow the band's sold-out residency successes in 2019 and 2013.

Def Leppard will release “Diamond Star Heroes Live From Sheffield” on November 21 via Mercury Studios.

Marking the start of their co-headlining European tour with Motley Crue this concert on May 22, 2023 in Sheffield, England served as a homecoming show for Def Leppard, 47 years since the bands inception.

On the eve of the band's tour, Def Leppard revisited their club days and played an intimate show for just under 900 die-hard fans from the historic Sheffield venue, The Leadmill.

The concert featured a mix of hits and rarities spanning their entire catalog from “On Through The Night” to the band's most recent album, “Diamond Star Halos.” This specific show, One Night Only Live At the Leadmill is available for the first time in the 4K UHD format on the Diamond Star Heroes 4K release.

Performing their second-ever hometown stadium concert to a sold-out crowd of almost 40,000 fans, the Blu-ray+2CD & 2CD and 2LP versions include classics "Photograph" and "Pour Some Sugar on Me" as well as UK live debuts "Take What You Want" and "This Guitar", the latter dedicated to the band's late great guitarist Steve Clark.

“Def Leppard – Diamond Star Heroes Live From Sheffield” will be available on Blu-ray+2CD, 4K UHD, 2CD and 2LP. Pressed on red, white and black splatter, the vinyl nods to the home kit colors of Sheffield United FC, who play their home matches at Bramall Lane. Additionally, the 4K UHD will be the band's first 4K release and includes “One Night Only Live At The Leadmill”, previously released last year.

Def Leppard release Stand By Me cover for LA fire relief

Def Leppard have released their take on the Ben E. King classic "Stand By Me" with "proceeds from the track will be donated to FireAid to assist in both short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California."

"Los Angeles & its surrounding area has always played a central role in Def Leppard's career, from it being where some of us are based and it being our U.S. hub for rehearsals, to being the city where we played our first-ever American gig,” says Joe Elliott. “We feel blessed to be able to dedicate this song & give all the royalties to the amazing heroes in L.A. helping those affected by the fires. No better song."

"In times of devastation, standing together is more important than ever,”
adds Phil Collen. “As a resident of Southern California for 35 years, I've witnessed the impact of wildfires as they continue to ravage communities across California. Our cover of Ben E. King's Stand By Me' is a tribute to resilience, unity, and hope. All proceeds from our version will go directly to wildfire victims, helping those who need it most. Let's stand by each other and make a difference because no one should face hardship alone"

"For a time in the '80s and '90s, L.A. became my home from home”
, recalls Rick Savage. “To see the devastation caused by the wildfires is heartbreaking. To everyone affected by the tragedy, our hearts go out to you all. May you find a way forward physically, mentally and spiritually. It's hard to comprehend the incomprehensible but there's a chance if we stand by each other."

"Have a continued appreciation for the L.A. firefighters and all of the first responders,”
begins Rick Allen. “I know how important first responders are in states of emergency, especially given my history, which is why in addition to supporting FireAid through the release of "Stand By Me," the Raven Drum Foundation will be offering 5 signed guitars to benefit first responders resiliency inc., offering free resiliency and trauma trainings for first responders and their families across California."

"Having spent most of my adult life living in L.A., it's beyond heartbreaking to see the devastation wrought by the fires,”
explains Vivian Campbell. “I'm familiar with each and every neighbourhood affected and know so many who have lost their homes and livelihoods. our thoughts continue with them all as they begin to rebuild their lives and communities."

Def Leppard are next scheduled to perform in San Juan, Puerto Rico on May 15, with occasional live dates around the US booked throughout the summer.

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell undergoes bone marrow transplant

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell is sharing a health update after missing a pair of recent concerts by the band.

"Thank you for all the recent messages and support,” says Campbell on social media. “As you all may know, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma several years ago. I recently had a bone marrow transplant as part of my treatment plan, and it’s safe to say that thus far it’s been a very successful transplant! I just have to keep my head down and my spirits up for the next 100 days of primary recovery."

Campbell missed a private show in Nashville, TN last October and, most recently, a January 18 concert in León, Mexico; both performances saw Phil Collen's guitar tech, John Zocco, in the lineup in place of the rocker.

Def Leppard are next scheduled to perform in San Juan, Puerto Rico on May 15, with occasional live dates around the US booked throughout the summer.

Def Leppard was recently named the No. 5 Rock News Artist Of The Year as part of the 2024 hennemusic Rock News Awards.
