Helix: “Smash Hits Unplugged” update

Last week, I mentioned that Canadian metal band Helix had announced that a new release is on the horizon (see “Helix: ‘Smash Hits Unplugged’ on the way” here).

“Smash Hits Unplugged” will feature a dozen Helix tracks that span their career, including “Rock You,” “Heavy Metal Love,” “Deep Cuts The Knife” and their cover of the Canadian hit by A Foot In Coldwater, “(Make Me Do) Anything You Want.”

Things are progressing well, according to singer Brian Vollmer. “This week we finished off the recording for ‘Smash Hits Unplugged’. The last things to be recorded were Kaleb’s end leads on “Deep Cuts The Knife” & “Wild In The Streets” and Cheryl Lescom’s backing vocals on “The Kids Are All Shakin’. Everyone is excited at the result.”

“We hope to have everything mixed by Wednesday at the latest, as the CD then has to go to Toronto to be mastered,” continues Vollmer. “While the recording has been going on, Matt from Baby Jack Design (the same company that put together the ‘Vagabond Bones’ cover) has been working on the “Smash Hits Unplugged” cover. We have several companies looking at distributing this disc, hopefully one that will get us into Canadian Walmart stores."
