U2 debut Spiderman song in Portugal

Just last month, U2 unveiled a new song from their upcoming Broadway musical, “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark,” on Good Morning America (see original story here).

The debut public performance of “Boy Falls From The Sky” was sung by Reeve Carney, who has the starring role in Spider-Man, playing the webbed crime-fighter and his alter-ego, Peter Parker.

Reportedly the most expensive musical in Broadway history, the show begins its preview performances on November 14, in advance of its official December 21 launch.

While the Spider-Man production continues behind the scenes, U2 slipped “Boy” into their set, for the first time, last night in Portugal.

Introducing the new song, Bono said, “In honor of last night and tonight... and the incredible welcome you have given us... we want to try something we have never played before. This could be interesting! This is ‘Boy Falls From The Sky.'”

Many fans have commented that the intro lead guitar riff in “Boy” reminds them of a riff from the chorus of another U2 superhero-inspired song – “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me,” from "Batman Forever."
