Metallica: Surf’s Up for Kirk Hammett in Hawaii

When you’re between albums and tours, it’s nice to kick back and hang ten.

Ask Metallica’s Kirk Hammett.

Several brand new photos of the Metallica guitarist surfing at The Banzai Pipeline, a surf reef break located in Hawaii, off Ehukai Beach Park in Pupukea on Oahu's North Shore, have surfaced.

Check out more shots of Kirk in Hawaii, including some with fans, at Transworld Surf here.

Metallica looks like they’ll be back in the studio this Spring to begin work on a new album.

"Previously, Metallica would hang us by the throat when we came home from a mammoth world tour, but this time it's different,” drummer Lars Ulrich told Danish tabloid newspaper Ekstra Bladet. “Therefore it does not appear to be a long time before we start work on a new album. I think we'll be ready in March and April - when the creative process reaches a boil, we'll go into the studio."
