VIDEO: Dennis Chambers wraps Drum Solo Week II on Letterman

Drum Solo Week II wrapped up Thursday on The late Show with David Letterman as Santana drummer Dennis Chambers was the featured player.

Chambers began drumming at the age of four years old, and was gigging in Baltimore-area nightclubs by the age of six. In 1978 (at 18 years old), Dennis joined Parliament/Funkadelic, and stayed with them until 1985. In 1986 he joined the John Scofield Band. Since then, he has played with most of the major figures in jazz fusion, and currently tours with Santana.

Chambers followed appearances this week by Tony Royster Jr., Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree and former Police sticks man Stewart Copeland.

This is the second round of spotlight on drummers by Letterman: in June, Anton Fig, Sheila E., jazz legend Roy Haynes and Rush’s Neil Peart were in the spotlight.
