Bret Michaels donates music room to Phoenix hospital

Earlier this week, Bret Michaels announced plans to donate a music room to St. Joseph's Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.

"I want to give something back to the hospital that helped save my life," said Michaels in a statement. "Phoenix is my home, and I'm proud to be a part of this community."

Thursday, Michaels was on hand to officially open the Bret Michaels Hospitality and Music Room at the hospital, where he was treated last year during his series of health scares.

"Wouldn't it be great to have a place to go to for their families that they could maybe find themselves," said Michaels, "If they're here all night, searching their soul, a lot of people that are going through a very devastating time in their life."

Michaels also donated signed guitars to the doctors that saved his life.

The rocker performs in Phoenix on Friday night.
