Lou Reed & Metallica streaming full Lulu album

Strap yourself in – the Lou Reed and Metallica album, “Lulu,” is now available for streaming on the group’s website.

The 10-track collaboration between the artists runs almost 90-minutes in length (!), ending with the 20-minute “Junior Dad.”

The project is based on songs for a theatrical production of Frank Wedekind’s classic femme fatale “Lulu” plays. Reed rewrote the concepts of the plays – 1895’s “Earth Spirit” and 1904’s “Pandora’s Box” – from the perspective of Lulu herself.

The album was co-produced by Reed, Metallica, Hal Willner and Greg Fidelman, who also mixed the record.

“We don’t really know where it’s going,” said Metallica’s Lars Ulrich during the making of the project. “We don’t really know where it’s gonna take us, but it sure as f**k is an exciting ride to be on.”

“What could we add to make this better make it as potent, and make it better,”
adds Hetfield. “Take it to another level: make it rock, make it heavy – we got to stamp ‘Tallica on it.”

“Lulu” comes out October 31 everywhere…except North America, where it’ll be available November 1.

To help launch the release, “Loutallica” are scheduled to appear on the BBC's Later With Jools Holland on November 8 and 11.
