Black Sabbath bassist congratulates Metallica on anniversary

Black Sabbath legends Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler joined Metallica Saturday on the band’s final night of 30th Anniversary shows at the Fillmore in San Francisco.

The two were just part of the special guests for the evening, which included former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, producer Bob Rock, and Metallica family tree members Lloyd Grant, Ron McGovney and Hugh Tanner.

Robert Trujillo introduced Geezer as “My hero, Cliff Burton’s hero, Jason Newsted’s hero,” before they rocked some classic Sabbath tracks.

In a post to his website entitled “Congratulations, Metallica,” Geezer raved about the experience.

“I had the pleasure and honour of jamming Sabbra Cadabra / A National Acrobat, and then Iron Man / Paranoid (with Ozzy) with Metallica at their 30th Anniversary Met Club gig last night (Dec 10th) in San Francisco at the Fillmore,” wrote Butler on Sunday. “Great bunch of guys, and of course one of the world’s greatest bands. They did their fan club proud. The late, great Cliff Burton was definitely in the house with us, and smiling……”
