VIDEO: Slash in the studio part 4

Slash has issued the fourth webisode in his series of behind the scenes looks at the recording of his new solo album, “Apocalyptic Love.”

This time out, the focus is on the recording process.

“Most recordings are usually done in stacks and layers,” says bassist Todd Kerns. “With this, it was just bang! – the whole spirit of the thing was the four of us playing together, captured all at once.”

The band built a room called “Slash’s Box” for the guitarist to work out of during the sessions.

“I stand in there and I close the doors,” explains Slash, “and there’s big monitors in there which does the playback of what the guys are playing. So, it’s like headphones – only without having those little cans on your head. And so I play live to the band that way.”

Full mixing on the project started last week.

Slash’s sophomore solo album is due May 22, and he begins a mini-US tour on May 3 in Baltimore, with dates booked throughout the month of May.
