The Aerosmith/American Idol connection has moved to another level.
Following her appearance on Thursday night’s episode, last year's Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina revealed that she will be a guest on Aerosmith's new album, due for release later this spring.
On Friday, Alaina tweeted: "Yesterday: returned to idol & then went to the studio to record background vocals for the new Aerosmith record. #ISTHISREAL?Thank u Steven!"

Currently out on the road with the Experience Hendrix tour, Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford teased some Idol news about the band this past week, telling The Times News, "I think people are going to see a lot of Aerosmith later in the year. We've got a new song that's gonna be used in a major motion picture this summer, so that's probably the first new music fans will get to hear. We may even debut it on American Idol in May.”
At last report, the band had finished recording the music with producer Jack Douglas and now it’s up to Idol judge and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler to finish writing and recording lyrics for the material.
