Aerosmith mark 40th anniversary of debut album on In The Studio

Aerosmith mark the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album on the latest installment of In The Studio.

Released in January of 1973, “Aerosmith” featured concert staples like “Mama Kin”, “Walkin' The Dog”, and what would become the band’s signature tune, “Dream On.”

First issued as a single in 1973, “Dream On” peaked at number 59 nationally but hit big in the band's native Boston, where it was the number 1 single of the year on the less commercial top 40 station, WBZ-FM, number 5 for the year on highly rated Top 40 WRKO-AM and number 16 on heritage Top 40 WMEX-AM.

Re-released in 1976, “Dream On” cracked the US top 10, reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

In The Studio host Redbeard catches up with Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton as they reminisce about the beginnings of what would be Aerosmith.

"To say that it's a dream come true, to become famous, to have an album out, get your voice and songs on the radio, it's a real trip,” says Tyler. “It really is a dream come true."

Aerosmith’s self-titled debut session on In The Studio is available now to stream here.
