David Bowie: Promoters start bidding war for live return

David Bowie is reportedly at the center of a bidding war by UK concert promoters for a return to the stage next year.

The Mirror reports Live Nation has tabled a multi-million pound offer for Bowie to play the Olympic Park in East London next year; the company has close links with the singer’s agent, John Giddings, who runs music agency Solo.

AEG are also expected to lodge an offer shortly, possibly to play Hyde Park.

A source close to the music icon said there were “currently no live dates planned” for the singer.

Bowie’s last performance was on stage with Alicia Keys in 2006; he stopped touring after a heart attack on stage in Germany in 2004.

Earlier this year, Bowie returned with a new album, “The Next Day”, which landed the singer his first UK number 1 album in 20 years and also became the fastest selling UK album of 2013 to date.

2014 marks the 50th anniversary of “Liza Jane”, Bowie’s first single released under the name Davie Jones with the King Bees when he was 17.
