Metallica are premiering a live version of their 1986 classic, “Master Of Puppets”, from the forthcoming “Through The Never” soundtrack album.
Due September 24, the 2-CD set "Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)" will highlight performances from last year's shows at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where the band filmed all performance footage featured in the film.
"Let's hear it for the old-school soundtrack!" said drummer Lars Ulrich. “Not only are we beyond psyched about our movie coming your way shortly, but the fact that we get to share the music directly in all these formats is way cool."
“Through The Never” tells the story of a band crew member named Trip (played by Dane DeHaan) who is sent out on a mission during Metallica's live set in front of a sold-out arena: to meet a disabled truck and retrieve a particular item. However, the routine task turns into a surreal odyssey when Trip's van is hit by another vehicle, and he subsequently finds himself up against a death-dealing horseman. As Trip flees through desolate streets, he has only his wits to help him avoid the deadly horseman and deliver Metallica's cargo.
The movie will make its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, September 9 at 7:30 PM.
Metallica recently announced the first public screening will take place at the historic Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, California on Tuesday, September 17th. The special kick-off event happens prior to the 36th annual Mill Valley Film Festival.
“Through The Never” will then debut in IMAX theatres across North America for a one-week engagement starting Friday, September 27, before it expands into additional theatres on October 4.
