Aerosmith have teamed with SpectiCast to bring their latest concert film, "Rock For The Rising Sun", to the big screen in cinemas worldwide starting October 17.
Released on DVD and Blu-ray this past July, the film shares the story of the band’s tour of Japan following the devastating March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami that hit the region.
In the autumn of 2011, despite advice to the contrary, Aerosmith brought their "Back On The Road" tour to Japan, a country with which they'd always had a special relationship.
Directed by Casey Patrick Tebo, "Rock For The Rising Sun" combines live performance material with behind-the-scenes footage that shows the nation coping with the destruction.
The footage that makes up the film was originally only intended for Aersomith's personal archives, but the band and its management found it so captivating that they wanted to make it available to their fans.
"This is more than just a concert caught on film," says Mark Rupp, co-founder and president of SpectiCast, "Because of the backstory behind the tour, 'Rock For The Rising Sun' is really a fully fledged motion picture, with a narrative that fans and those new to Aerosmith will become invested in."
Worldwide screening dates and times will be available at aerosmithonscreen.com
Aerosmith are currently playing shows on a month-long South American tour.
