VIDEO: U2’s Bono & Edge cover Daft Punk’s Get Lucky

U2 members Bono & The Edge teamed up with Nile Rodgers to perform a cover of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” at a post-auction event for the RED campaign in New York on Saturday.

The Sotheby’s charity auction raised more than $13 million for RED, a brand designed to engage business and consumer power to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

The final total raised will be closer to $26 million, as Bill and Melinda Gates were in attendance and pledged to match the final figure, however much was raised.

Rodgers and Pharrell Williams appeared in the video for “Get Lucky”, which was released earlier this year. The song reached No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles and Pop charts, and topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs and Hot Dance Club Songs charts, as well.

U2 have been working on a new album which is expected to be released in the spring of 2014.

The Irish group are among the acts featured on the upcoming DVD release, “US Festival 1983: Days 1-3”, due December 3.

Held on Memorial Day of 1983, the US Festival (US is an acronym for "Unite Us In Song") was a massive three-day celebration of music and culture sponsored by Steve Wozniak, formerly of Apple Computer. Wozniak financed the follow-up to the 1982 inaugural event himself, to the tune of approximately 10 million dollars.

“Us Festival 1983: Days 1 – 3” includes the 3 days of New Wave, Heavy Metal and Rock in 1983 with performances from U2, The Clash, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Stevie Nicks, INXS, Men At Work, Stray Cats, Triumph, Missing Persons and more.
