Stone Temple Pilots issue statement regarding show cancellations

The Stone Temple Pilots have issued a statement regarding the cancellation of a series of upcoming concerts.

“We regret that, due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, our forthcoming tour dates in Australia, the Middle East and Hawaii have had to be cancelled,” posted the band on Monday. “An initial statement citing "recording delays" wasn't true -- the conflict wasn't related to recording new STP material. We are deeply disappointed to not be able to perform these shows, and look forward to making them up in the future.”

Last week, organizers of Australia’s Soundwave festival posted a message on the event’s website, writing, “The recording of the new album has now gone beyond schedule, and sadly, the availability of the recording studio, engineers and the producer - or lack thereof - dictates that the band have had to cancel their upcoming engagements.”

Following the firing of Scott Weiland last year, STP regrouped with new singer Chester Bennington of Linkin Park.

The band released an EP, “High Rise”, last fall; the project debuted at No. 24 on the US Billboard 200 chart following first week sales of 12,000 copies.
