Stone Temple Pilots and Live team up for North American tour

Stone Temple Pilots and Live are teaming up to co-headline The Jubilee Tour.

The multi-platinum selling bands join forces to celebrate the 30th anniversary of two of the most beloved albums of the 90s - Stone Temple Pilots’ “Purple” and Live’s “Throwing Copper.” Fans of the iconic bands can expect a night of hit songs from those albums and much more, with a full set of music by each group spanning generations.

When Stone Temple Pilots returned to the studio in 1994 to record their second album, the band was facing high expectations set by its debut album, “Core”, which sold more than 8 million copies and won a Grammy Award. The release of “Purple” would cement their place as one of the most definitive bands of their generation, debuting at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 album chart with the help of singles like “Interstate Love Song,” “Vasoline,” and “Big Empty” on its way to selling more than six million copies.

“Throwing Copper”, the third studio album from Live – produced by Jerry Harrison of The Talking Heads – set alternative radio on fire with consecutive hit singles, including “Selling the Drama,” “I Alone,” “All Over You,” and the radio mainstay, “Lightning Crashes,” which was No. 1 at Modern Rock Radio for 10 consecutive weeks. “Throwing Copper” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and went on to sell over 10 million copies.

The 19-date North American series will open August 16 in Concord, CA and wrap up in Indianapolis, IN on September 15.

Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace will open the first two dates, with Soul Asylum on board for the remainder of the tour.

Stone Temple Pilots exits US tour due to positive Covid test

Stone Temple Pilots have exited from their current US tour after a member of the band’s touring party tested positive for Covid-19.

“During routine Covid-19 testing, we have discovered that a member of our touring party has tested positive,” shared the group on social media. “Out of an abundance of caution, we must regretfully cancel the remaining shows on our tour with Halestorm. The 5 dates are Evansville, Tulsa, Deadwood, Moorhead, and Missoula. Halestorm and Black Stone Cherry will still be performing as scheduled.

“Thank you to everybody who has come out to see a show, and an extra special thank you to Halestorm. We’ll be back out there as soon as we can.”

The spring 2022 series is scheduled to wrap up in Missoula, MT on May 30.

Sone Temple Pilots experienced the same issue on a US tour last fall that resulted in the band cancelling headline shows an appearance at the Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, FL.

The group’s next scheduled performance is set for the Taste Addison festival in Addison, TX on June 4.

Last year, Stone Temple Pilots issued an expanded 25th anniversary reissue of their third album, “Tiny Music…Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop”; their latest studio release is the 2020 acoustic record, “Perdida.”

Stone Temple Pilots shut down US dates due to Covid within touring party

Stone Temple Pilots have shut down the remaining dates of a fall US tour after a member of the band’s touring party tested positive for Covid-19.

“During routine Covid-19 testing of our band and crew, we have discovered that a member of our organization has tested positive for the virus,” shared the group on social media. “Out of an abundance of caution, we must regretfully cancel our remaining shows on this current tour; our appearances in Daytona, FL at the Welcome to Rockville Festival and Tulsa, OK at the Skyline Event Center. Refunds for the Tulsa show can be made at your point of purchase.

“Thank you to everyone that came out to see us this fall, it was wonderful to see all of your beautiful faces in person again. We hope to be able to do this again with you all very soon.”

Stone Temple Pilots revealed the update following a November 9 appearance in Baltimore, MD.

This past summer, the band issued an expanded 25th anniversary reissue of their third album, “Tiny Music…Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop”; their latest studio release is the 2020 acoustic record, “Perdida.”

Stone Temple Pilots and Bush cancel fall US tour

Stone Temple Pilots and Bush have canceled their planned co-headlining fall US tour.

The three-week series was scheduledtoto open in Mesa, AZ on September 30, with each group taking the stage in a different order of the revolving headline tour.

"STP friends and family, unfortunately Bush has had to cancel their upcoming tour with us that was to start at the end of this month,” said Stone Temple Pilots in a statement. “We are of course saddened by this news, but it's a sign of the times right now. That said, our headline dates starting on October 17th are still on! The only headline date that is being canceled is Oct 9th in Chattanooga, as that was during the Bush run and can no longer fit with the schedule.

“We'd love to see you all out there for the dates, and we're so very much looking forward to coming back to all canceled markets as soon as we can."

Bush shared their own statement, saying “"Due to unfortunate and unavoidable Covid-related circumstances, we will be unable to move forward with our planned Fall tour dates — including our festival appearances and our tour with Stone Temple Pilots.

"We cannot stress enough how heartbreaking it is to not be able to go out and play after all of this time, and after all of our attempted starts and ensuing stops over the past year and a half. We wish to extend our deepest apologies as this is the last thing we would want for all our great fans as well as our good friends in Stone Temple Pilots."

Stone Temple Pilots and Bush team up for fall US tour

Stone Temple Pilots and Bush are teaming up for a co-headlining fall US tour.

The three-week series will open in Mesa, AZ on September 30, with each group taking the stage in a different order of the revolving headline tour.

The two bands , who have toured together several times in recent years, will be joined by Black Map on the fall run.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. local time via both bands’ websites.

Stone Temple Pilots will also embark on a solo headline tour, beginning October 9 in Chattanooga, TN and starting up again October 18 through November 9; tickets will go on sale this Friday, August 20 via stonetemplepilots.com.

Stone Temple Pilots are sharing a previously-unreleased video for the 1996 track, “And So I Know”, in sync with the newly-released expanded 25th anniversary reissue of their third album, “Tiny Music…Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop.”

The clip features intimate, unseen Hi8 video footage filmed by the band themselves during the album’s recording sessions at a ranch house in California’s Santa Ynez Valley, where they worked with producer Brendan O'Brien.

“Tiny Music” debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million copies in the region.

The 2021 Super Deluxe Edition of the project delivers a remastered version of the album alongside a collection of early versions and alternate mixes of songs, and a full 14-track live performance recorded at the Club La Vela in Panama City Beach, FL on March 14, 1997.

Last year, the group released an acoustic record, “Perdida”, the band’s eighth studio album and second with singer Jeff Gutt following a 2018 self-titled effort.

The Stone Temple Pilots are streaming video of their performance at a 1997 MTV Spring Break Rocks concert, in sync with the July 23 release of an expanded reissue of their third album, “Tiny Music…Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop.”

The band are sharing 5 tracks from the show at Club la Vela, Panama City Beach, FL on March 14, 1997 that was carried by MTV, while audio of the full 14-song set is available on the Super Deluxe Edition of the 25th anniversary reissue package.

"Tiny Music" was recorded in late 1995 with producer Brendan O'Brien at the Westerly Ranch in Santa Ynez, CA; the project debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million copies in the region.

The group’s third album featured the singles “Big Bang Baby”, “Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart”, “Lady Picture Show” and “Tumble In The Rough.”

“Re-listening to this album brought back some beautiful memories of all of us living, writing, and recording the record in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley,” guitarist Dean DeLeo tells Rolling Stone. “And of course, every time I revisit this stuff I miss Scott.”

Original STP lead singer Scott Weiland – who parted ways with the band in 2013 and spent the next two years working on solo music and his group The Wildabouts – died in December 2015 at age 48 from an accidental overdose while on tour.

The Stone Temple Pilots are sharing audio of a 1997 performance of their tune, “Tumble In The Rough”, ahead of the July 23 release of an expanded reissue of their third album, “Tiny Music…Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop.”

The track is part of a complete concert taped at the Club La Vela in Panama City Beach, FL on March 14, 1997 that is featured on the 25th anniversary package alongside a remastered version of the original album and recordings of alternate versions and mixes of several songs from the set.

The Florida performance was filmed for an MTV Spring Break special.

“Tumble In The Rough” is the latest preview to the 2021 reissue, following a previously-unreleased alternate version of “Big Bang Baby”, an early version of “Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart”, and a live performance of “Lady Picture Show.”

Scott Weiland biopic in the works

A biopic based on the memoir of former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland is in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Paper Heart” will tell the story of the late rocker, who died in December 2015 at age 48 from an accidental overdose while on tour.

Dark Pictures and Orian Williams have acquired the book rights to Weiland’s 2011 memoir, “Not Dead & Not For Sale.”

Jennifer Erwin, a die-hard Stone Temple Pilots fan who co-founded Dark Pictures with Anne Beagan, will write the script for the film adaptation of Weiland’s life that is set to meld rock stardom with a moving love story, the rock band frontman plunged into addiction and then fighting his way back to the top with comebacks.

“It’s an honor to have the trust to tell Scott’s story and the ability to portray the lesser known sides of him — the loving and tender man he was, the high school athlete he was, the melancholy soul he was and the legendary frontman that he will always be,” Erwin said in a statement.

“Scott was glamorous, complicated and wounded. His childhood had a big effect on his struggles with addiction,” Beagan added in her own statement.

The titles of both Weiland’s memoir and the planned biopics’s title are taken from lyrics in the 1996 Stone Temple Pilots song “Tripppin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart”, as featured on the group’s third album, “Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop.”

The Stone Temple Pilots are sharing a previously-unreleased “early version” of their 1996 single, “Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart”, from the forthcoming expanded reissue of their third album, “Tiny Music…Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop.”

“So usually we would have one or two songs per album where we would record the music and not have any vocal ideas to accompany us,” drummer Eric Kretz tells Stereogum. “With this early version of ‘Trippin,’ Scott had the rhythm tracks to work off of and this was his first day at singing the song. I really enjoy hearing him trying to work out the tongue twisting verse lyrics that are such a great counter rhythm to the music in the verses.”

“Trippin’” followed “Big Bang Baby” as the second single from the album, which debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million copies in the country.

Due July 23, the expanded 2021 reissue will feature a remastered version of the original album, alternate versions and mixes of several of the songs, and a complete concert taped at the Club La Vela in Panama City Beach, Florida, on March 14, 1997.

Stone Temple Pilots preview expanded Tiny Music 25th anniversary reissue

The Stone Temple Pilots are streaming a previously-unreleased alternate version of their 1996 single, “Big Bang Baby”, as the first preview to the July 23 release of an expanded deluxe edition of their third album, “Tiny Music…Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop.”

The original record – which delivered three rock radio hits in “Big Bang Baby”, “Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart” and “Lady Picture Show” – debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million copies in the region.

The expanded 2021 reissue will feature a remastered version of the original album, alternate versions and mixes of several of the songs, and a complete concert taped at the Club La Vela in Panama City Beach, Florida, on March 14, 1997.

"Tiny Music" was recorded in late 1995 with producer Brendan O'Brien at the Westerly Ranch in Santa Ynez, CA.

“Re-listening to this album brought back some beautiful memories of all of us living, writing, and recording the record in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley,” guitarist Dean DeLeo tells Rolling Stone. “And of course, every time I revisit this stuff I miss Scott.”

Original STP lead singer Scott Weiland – who parted ways with the band in 2013 and spent the next two years working on solo music and his group The Wildabouts – died in December 2015 at age 48 from an accidental overdose while on tour.

Last year, the group released an acoustic record, “Perdida”, the band’s eighth studio album and second with singer Jeff Gutt following a 2018 self-titled effort.

Stone Temple Pilots to perform Purple album in livestream concert

Stone Temple Pilots will perform their second album, “Purple”, in its entirety during an October 16 livestream concert event.

Following the massive success of their 1992 debut, “Core”, the 1994 follow-up topped the US Billboard 200 with help from singles like “Big Empty”, “Vasoline” and “Interstate Love Song”; the project went on to sell 6 million copies in the States.

The group hosted a livestream performance of “Core” in July and will do the same with the “Purple” set, available for $10 and scheduled for Friday, October 16 at 8pm EST via stonetemplepilots.com.

Earlier this year, the group released an acoustic record, “Perdida”; the set marks Stone Temple Pilots’ eighth album and second with singer Jeff Gutt following a 2018 self-titled effort.

Stone Temple Pilots are streaming video of “Dead & Bloated” from their July 31 livestream concert performance of their 1992 debut album, “Core.”

Hosted by live music hub nugs.tv, the show saw the band deliver album cuts and classics like “Plush”, “Sex Type Thing” and “Wicked Garden” from the record, which peaked at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to selling more than 8 million copies in the States alone.

The project’s second single, "Plush" won the 1994 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.

In addition to the “Core” livestream, STP has also released live audio from past shows beginning with August 3, 2011 gig at the Hampton Beach Ballroom in Hampton Beach, NH with original frontman Scott Weiland, and a June 13, 2019 date in London, UK at the O2 Forum Kentish Town with lead vocalist Jeff Gutt.

Bush, Live and Stone Temple Pilots reschedule Australian tour

Bush, Live and Stone Temple Pilots have announced rescheduled dates for their Under The Southern Stars Australian tour.

The three-week series was postponed last month by organizers as the global pandemic hit the region; the shows have been moved to February and March of 2021.

In an effort to ensure a safe tours for all, despite the unprecedented fall-out from COVID-19 and the Federal governments ban on public gatherings, all three bands were resolute in their decision to postpone rather than cancel the tour, determined not to disappoint fans and determined to support the Australian live music scene.

“I wanted to reach out to all our fans in Australia and say that UTSS is going to be happening in 2021,” says Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. “Our hearts go out to all the medical teams around the world and the first responder teams that have been taking care of everyone. We’re going to be back better and stronger than ever as an entire human race. Australia, I love you and can’t wait to be there. All tickets will be valid – so much love and take care.”

“We thank you for your patience as we got all this sorted out,” adds STP bassist Robert DeLeo. “Stay safe, spend some time with loved ones and we will see you all very soon. Much love.”

Bush are gearing up for the release of a new album, “The Kingdom”, later this year, while Stone Temple Pilots recently issued the acoustic record, “Perdida.”

The Stone Temple Pilots are streaming audio of the track, “Miles Away”, from their forthcoming acoustic album, “Perdida.”

The song has something of a Spanish vibe to it, featuring Yutong Sharpe on violin, Bill Appleberry on keyboards, and bassist Robert DeLeo on marxophone.

“That was something Robert brought in and he was excited about it,” singer Jeff Gutt tells SPIN. “When Robert comes into the studio excited about an idea, you listen. So we were all ears. After that, the song kind of just fell into place, with all of us working it out. I really gravitated towards it because I can relate it to so many things that have happened in my life. So I tried to put a personal touch on it where I could.”

Due February 7, “Perdida” marks Stone Temple Pilots’ eighth album and Gutt’s second studio release with the band following a 2018 self-titled record.

The band recently cancelled a North American tour to launch “Perdida” when Gutt developed a “severely herniated disc,” according to the group, “and doctors have advised immediate surgery which will require weeks of recovery time and physical therapy.

“Thankfully Jeff is expected to make a full recovery and we will continue with our Australian tour with Live and Bush in April, the summer tour with Nickelback, and we hope to reschedule the Perdida tour later this year.”

The Stone Temple Pilots are streaming audio of the title track to their forthcoming album, “Perdida.”

The tune follows the project’s lead single, “Fare Thee Well”, as the latest preview to the band’s eighth album and second studio release with singer Jeff Gutt following a 2018 self-titled record.

Due February 7, the acoustic-based set was recorded at drummer Eric Kretz's Bomb Shelter Studios.

Stone Temple Pilots have cancelled their upcoming spring tour of North America in support of their forthcoming acoustic album, “Perdida”, due to an injury suffered by singer Jeff Gutt.

“We are sorry to announce that we must cancel the upcoming Perdida acoustic tour,” says the band. “Our brother Jeff has a severely herniated disc and doctors have advised immediate surgery which will require weeks of recovery time and physical therapy. Thankfully Jeff is expected to make a full recovery and we will continue with our Australian tour with Live and Bush in April, the summer tour with Nickelback, and we hope to reschedule the Perdida tour later this year.

Stone Temple Pilots to join Nickelback for North American tour

The Stone Temple Pilots have announced plans to join Nickelback for their 2020 North American tour.

The Canadian rockers are hitting the road to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its diamond-certified No. 1 album, "All The Right Reasons", by performing the album in its entirety, in addition to a collection of other hits.

The album produced seven radio singles, five of which were Top 20 Billboard Hot 100 singles, including "Photograph", "Rockstar", "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared" and "Savin' Me."

Stone Temple Pilots will perform in support of their eighth studio album, “Perdida.”

Due February 7, the acoustic-based set was recorded at drummer Eric Kretz's Bomb Shelter Studios and introduced with the lead single, “Fare Thee Well.”

The four-month summer tour will open in Raleigh, NC on June 19, with Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown and Switchfoot appearing on select dates.

Tickets will go on sale this Thursday, January 23 at 10 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com.

Stone Temple Pilots will launch “Perdida” on “An Evening With” acoustic tour that will begin in Vancouver, BC on February 5.
