KISS and Def Leppard announce summer tour

KISS and Def Leppard held a press conference at The House Of Blues in Los Angeles on Monday to announce dates for a North American tour this summer.

The trek will hit more than 40 cities once it kicks off on Monday, June 23 in West Valley City, UT at the USANA Amphitheater.

Tickets go on sale starting on Friday, March 21 through the Live Nation mobile app and at www.livenation.com.

"It's two great bands that are going to be playing for the same amount of time," says Def Leppard singer Joe Elliot. "It's joint forces. I don't see it as competitive at all."

Both bands jointly decided to support our heroes and honor their dedicated fans in the armed services by partnering with numerous military organizations for the tour. Partnerships will include the USO, Hiring Our Heroes, Project Resiliency/The Raven Drum Foundation, August Warrior Project and the Wounded Warrior Project.

All military personnel will be given exclusive access to discounted tickets for the tour with their own pre-sale through Military.com/Monster.com – starting Tuesday, March 18 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Military charities will receive a portion of ticket sales with the money raised being split amongst all the non-profit organizations participating with the summer tour.

"Politicians fart through their mouth," says Gene Simmons. "Only the military makes freedom possible."

Paul Stanley adds that the group plans to hire vets for its road crew. "We try to find a couple of vets who want to go out and be part of the team," he says. "This is a chance for somebody to travel and be part of the Kiss Army."

On April 10, the original lineup of KISS will be inducted into the 2014 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame at a ceremony in New York, along with Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt.
