San Francisco Giants to host 2nd annual Metallica Night

Metallica will team up with the Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants for the 2nd annual Metallica Night at AT&T Park on Friday, May 16.

This week, frontman James Hetfield spoke with MLB.com’s Amy Gutierrez about the band taking batting practice before a game at the park - see the video below.

“Get there early as we'll be on hand to do all the fun pre-game rituals,” advised Metallica when the event was announced. “... the National Anthem, throwing out the first pitch, and so on. If you're into Metallica, baseball and, most importantly, the San Francisco Giants, make sure you snag a ticket for the game.”

A special event ticket package is available that includes a ticket, an exclusive Metallica/Giants-themed inflatable guitar and a Metallica/Giants-themed guitar pick tin.

Partial proceeds from every ticket sold will benefit the Bay Area Chapter of Little Kids Rock.

At the first Metallica Night at AT&T Park in San Francisco last year, drummer Lars Ulrich threw out the ceremonial first pitch and guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performed the National Anthem as part of the festivities.

Metallica will bring their “By Request” concert series to Europe for shows starting May 28 at Sonisphere Finland in Helsinki, Finland.
