Black Sabbath awarded for million sales of 13 album

Black Sabbath received a worldwide platinum award for the 2013 reunion album, “13”, prior to their show at London’s Hyde Park on Friday.

“Thanks to everyone who purchased the 13 album and came to see us play along the tour!,” posted the band. “We received a plaque at Hyde Park for 1 Million sales and the album reaching #1 in 14 countries. Thank you all!”

Produced by Rick Rubin, “13” is the group’s first studio album with Ozzy Osbourne since 1978’s “Never Say Die.”

While “13” saw a return of Osbourne to the Sabbath lineup, original drummer Bill Ward declined to participate in the reunion tour and album over a contractual dispute.

The group recorded the project with Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine, while Ozzy’s solo drummer, Tommy Clufetos, handled live dates for the tour.

The Hyde Park show was the final date of the band’s “13” world tour.
