Gregg Allman cancels solo tour after being hospitalized

Gregg Allman has reportedly cancelled his summer solo tour dates after checking himself into hospital on Monday for an undisclosed health issue.

Oregon Live reports Allman originally cancelled three shows, including his headlining Sunday appearance at the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland, before pulling the plug on the full tour.

"He decided to cancel the gig tonight in Boise yesterday," Peter Dammann, the festival's artistic director, said at a press conference on Tuesday. "This morning I called up his agent and said, 'What's going on?' They said, 'We're evaluating, we'll get back to you.' A couple hours later, I got a note from management that said, 'We're canceling the whole tour.' They didn't give us any specifics on what's happening with Gregg."

The latest news marks the third time this year the Allman Brothers Band founder’s live schedule has been affected by health issues: in March, the band postponed four shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre as Gregg battled bronchitis; in April, the rocker cancelled the final two shows of an Australian solo trek due to a wrist injury.

The Allman Brothers Band recently announced their final live shows after 45 years as a group.

The group have rescheduled the four shows at the Beacon that were postponed in March – they perform on October 21, 22, 24 and 25. Tickets purchased for those sold-out shows (originally set for March 25, 26, 28 & 29) will be honored on these dates for the corresponding days.

Fans unable to attend the rescheduled shows can return tickets for a refund at the point of purchase prior to August 1.

The Allman Brothers also announced two additional shows at the Beacon, which will mark the end of their career as a touring band.

The group will perform at the Beacon on October 27 and 28, a venue the band has played exactly 232 times since their annual tradition began there in 1989.
