Ace Frehley planning all-star covers album

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will release his first new solo album in five years, “Space Invader”, on August 19th in North America (Aug 29 in Europe), but the rocker is already working on his next project.

“I started working on my next album for eOne, which is covers and remixes,” Ace tells Arena.com “That will be out next year. I get suggestions, I come up with ideas, and I ask friends and associates about which songs to do. The songs are already written, so it is faster and easier for me to make that record.”

Frehley says fans can expect some big names will join him on the album.

“I will get guest stars like Lita Ford, Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, Slash,” he explains. “It is an easier record to make since I don't have much to do. The big stress is coming up with new guitar solos and vocals lines and melodies on new songs.”

One of the tunes he’s considering for the project is a new version of his 1978 solo hit, “New York Groove.”

“I think I am re-tracking it for the next album," says Ace. "I may redo it, and do a more current version of it. There are a few songs in the running for that."

As for “Space Invader”, the guitarist will promote the new release with a guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, August 12.

Frehley will sit in with the house band The Roots for the program's entirety; Kings Of Leon are scheduled as the musical guests.
