Mick Jagger to attend French premiere of James Brown biopic Get On Up

Mick Jagger will attend the French premiere of the James Brown biopic, “Get On Up”, at the Deauville American Film Festival in Deauville, France on September 12.

Jagger, one the producers of the project, will attend the premiere of the film along with director Tate Taylor, actor Chadwick Boseman (who plays Brown) and producer Brian Grazer.

The film, which also features Viola Davis, Dan Aykroyd, Nick Eversman and Craig Robinson among the cast, portrays Brown over a period of several decades, from his disadvantaged youth to his status as a bonafide music icon.

“It’s a great honour to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown,” said Jagger when announcing the project last year. “He was a mesmerizing performer with a fascinating life.”

“Get On Up” was released in the US on August 1; it earned $13.5 million at the box office in its opening weekend and was closing in on matching its $30 million budget by the end of August.

Following their 14 On Fire European summer tour, Jagger and the Rolling Stones return to the road this fall to play Australia and New Zealand, dates that were rescheduled from this spast spring following the sudden passing of the singer’s longtime girlfriend, L’Wren Scott.

The first show of the fall leg will see the Stones open the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide, Australia on October 25.
