Scorpions manager Peter Amend dies

The Scorpions are mourning the passing of friend and band manager Peter Amend.

The German rockers released the following statement:

"On September 1st, our dear friend Peter Amend passed away. Peter Amend was more than just a manager and economic and legal consultant for us. He was an important part of the Scorpions and was also a driving force in the artistic and strategic decisions of the band with his infinite knowledge and his sensitivity to the music.

Due to his advice and influence we achieved great international success in recent years.

Peter, you will always be in our hearts forever and a day. R.I.P."

Amend had been with the band since 1991.

The Scorpions recently revealed that they will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2015 with a new album and tour.

On January 24, 2010, after 45 years of performing, The Scorpions announced that they would be retiring after touring in support of their new album at the time, “Sting In The Tail”, although this decision was eventually retracted and the band will continue.
