Scorpions stream Big City Nights from Coming Home Live

The Scorpions are sharing video of a performance of their 1984 classic, “Big City Nights”, in sync with the new release of “Coming Home Live.”

As part of a 60th anniversary tour, the Scorpions headlined a special arena show in the city where it all began – Hanover, Germany.

The July 5 event before 45,000 fans – which saw the rockers joined by special guests Alice Cooper, Judas Priest and more – marked the first time the legendary rockers performed a stadium concert in Germany and in the hometown of Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker, and Matthias Jabs.

“We can hardly believe it, but today is the day! Our new album, ‘Coming Home Live,’ is out now,” says the band. “For us, July 5th in Hannover wasn’t just another concert, it was the best way to celebrate our 60th Anniversary with all of you. The energy you gave us that night was truly incredible. This album is the attempt to capture exactly that feeling, that sound, that homecoming – and give it back to you.

“To everyone who has been with us for the years, maybe even for the entire 6 decades: A huge, deeply felt thank you! Without your loyal support, there would be no Scorpions. So, listen in, turn it up, and let’s relive that special night in Hannover together again.”

Newly-released via Spinefarm / Vertigo / Universal, "Coming Home Live" is now available in multiple formats including vinyl and CD.

Scorpions preview The Zoo from Coming Home Live

The Scorpions are sharing video of a performance of their 1980 classic, “The Zoo”, as a preview to the band’s forthcoming release, “Coming Home Live.”

In the late 1970s, 42nd Street in Midtown Manhattan was one of the most vibrant streets in the bustling melting pot of New York City. Just a stone’s throw from Times Square, cheap peep shows stood next to sex shops, and drug stores crammed between shady facades, behind which you could donate blood for a few dollars.

In the local scene, this street between Broadway and the Theater District was known as The Zoo. And around The Zoo, you could find everything that defined the sunny and dark sides of the Big Apple.

When the Scorpions performed in New York in 1979 as part of their US tour, they couldn’t help but notice 42nd Street and its pulsating, yet gritty, nightlife. Klaus Meine immortalized the legendary street with his song “The Zoo.” And the iconic riff of Rudolf Schenker’s composition became one of the band’s most recognizable musical trademarks, cementing their place in the hard rock genre with the 1980 album “Animal Magnetism”.

Scorpions cancel three shows due to health issue

The Scorpions cancelled three shows in South America this past week due to a health issue experienced by singer Klaus Meine.

"It is with further regret that Scorpions will be unable to perform in Quito tonight, May 3rd.,” shared the group on social media. “Klaus has still not recovered from the virus that forced the recent Buenos Aires (April 26) and Bogota (April 30) cancellations for Scorpions and was diagnosed with a bacterial bronchitis which caused his unfortunately inability to sing.

"The band send their deepest apologies to all their loyal fans in Ecuador and are again extremely disappointed not to be able to play in one of their favorite countries.

"They'll make every effort to return to Ecuador and South America in the future."

The Scorpions next scheduled appearance is May 8 in Puebla, Mexico, after which they’ll launch a series of European shows at the start of June.

Scorpions classic Wind Of Change passes 1 billion YouTube views

The Scorpions’ 1991 classic, “Wind Of Change”, has passed one billion views on YouTube.

Upon its original release, the “Crazy World” single topped the charts across Europe and was a No. 4 hit in the US; its companion video was uploaded to YouTube in 2009.

“1 Billion views on the ‘Wind Of Change’ video!!! What a milestone,” says the band. “Thank you to all the Rock Believers for watching.”

Written by lead singer Klaus Meine, the power ballad became the soundtrack for the end of the Cold War. Inspired by the experience of playing at the Moscow Music Peace Festival in 1989, “Wind Of Change” embodies the feeling of hope, optimism and the prospect of a better future.

“When we came on stage in the Lenin Stadium and started our show by playing ‘Blackout’”, explained Meine in 2020, “all the Red Army soldiers, who function as security, threw their hats and jackets in the air, turned to us and became part of the crowd. The world was changing right in front of our eyes … It was indescribable!”

The Scorpions released a limited edition box set entitled “Wind Of Change: The Iconic Song”, in 2020 to mark the 30th anniversary of German unity; the group’s latest album is 2022’s “Rock Believer.”

Scorpions release new Rock Believer single Hammersmith

The Scorpions have released a lyric video for their new single, "Hammersmith", a bonus track on the UK edition of the band's latest album, “Rock Believer.”

The track pays homage to the iconic venue located in the West London district of the same name.

“The song,” says Klaus Meine, “takes us back to a time when we played in the smallest clubs, just dreaming about being able to perform in the Temple of Rock, the Hammersmith Odeon.”

The venue – which has seen performances from music royalty throughout the decades – has changed names several times since it opened in 1932, with its longest tenure under the Hammersmith Odeon banner (1962-1992); it is currently known as the Eventim Apollo.

The Scorpions scored a US Top 5 debut with “Rock Believer” to deliver the group their highest-charting effort ever on the 30-year-old Billboard Top Albums chart.

The band is gearing up to launch a North American tour August 21 in Toronto, ON; the series recently made headlines when Whitesnake announced that they had to pull out of the trek while singer David Coverdale continues to deal with an upper respiratory infection.
