Judas Priest began 2014 with a guest appearance on The Simpsons that saw the band rocking a parody version of their 1980 classic, “Breaking The Law.”

A week later, the FOX animated sitcom backtracked on a “death metal” reference that encompassed Priest’s cameo in the show by including the group in the opening blackboard sequence.

In late February, the band hosted the first all-metal edition of Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

April saw the first glimpses of information about a new album, which was revealed on April 28 when the group shared the cover art and streamed the title track to “Redeemer Of Souls.”

Singer Rob Halford confirmed in May that he would undergo a hernia operation before Priest headed out on tour in support of the project, which saw its release in early July.

Priest launched “Redeemer Of Souls” with an autograph session at New York’s Hard Rock Café, which saw Halford and guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner on hand to meet the fans.

The metal legends scored the first US Top 10 of their career with their 17th album, which debuted at No. 6 on the US Billboard 200 with 33,000 copies sold.

Priest launched their 40th anniversary tour in Rochester, NY on October 1, with shows wrapping up in Tacoma, WA on November 22 – where the group was joined by openers Steel Panther for their 1980 classic, “Living After Midnight.”

Last month, the rockers announced plans to release an expanded 30th anniversary edition of their 1984 album, “Defenders Of The Faith”, in March.

The 3CD package will include the original album, fully remastered and a complete live recording from the ‘Defenders’ tour, recorded at the Long Beach Arena in California on May 5, 1984.

2014 came to a close on December 31 with news that Priest will be joining Ozzy Osbourne and Motorhead on the 2015 Monsters tour, with the first show confirmed for Porto Alegre, Brazil on April 30.
