Black Sabbath announce first date of farewell tour

Black Sabbath have revealed the first date of their farewell tour.

"Ozzfest will be back in Japan on November 21st and 22nd,” says Sharon Osbourne. “And this will be Black Sabbath’s farewell. We're also announcing Korn, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary. Now you can't miss that."

Ozzfest Japan 2015 will take place November 21 and 22 at Makuhari Messe.

More acts will be announced soon.

The first edition of Ozzfest Japan took place in 2013 with a lineup that included Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Tool, Deftones, Slash, Stone Sour and many others.

Last fall, Ozzy Osbourne revealed Black Sabbath will regroup this year to write and record a final album and perform a farewell tour.

"The whole Sabbath experience this time around was great," Ozzy told Metal Hammer. "We all made friends, we didn't mess around, we all knew that we had a job to do, and we did it. It was a lot of fun. So we're going to do one more album, and a final tour.”

2013’s “13” was the group’s first studio album with Ozzy since 1978’s “Never Say Die.” While the singer rejoined guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler, original drummer Bill Ward declined to participate in the reunion album tour over a contractual dispute.

The group recorded “13” with Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine, while Ozzy’s solo drummer, Tommy Clufetos, handled live dates for the tour.

Black Sabbath played three warm-up shows in 2012 before officially launching the "13" tour in New Zealand in April of 2013; they went on to play 84 shows by the time the trek wrapped up in London’s Hyde Park in July of 2014.
