REPORT: Guns N’ Roses reunion to launch in spring 2016

The Guns N’ Roses reunion will launch in the spring of 2016, according to a new report by Billboard.

Multiple music industry sources tell the media outlet that the band – including founding members Axl Rose and Slash – is scheduled to be one of the first acts to play the new Las Vegas Arena when it opens April 6 – and will then headline the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, CA over the weekends of April 15-17 and April 22-24.

The reunited act is also reportedly negotiating with promoters to play as many as 25 football stadiums in North America in the summer of 2016.

The official lineup for Coachella is expected to be announced in the first week of January.

The latest report comes on the heels of a return to the classic GNR logo on the band’s website, and a video (below) played during screenings of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” presenting footage of a concert crowd rocking out to “Welcome To The Jungle.”

Beyond Axl and Slash, the Billboard item does not reference which band members will be involved; GNR’s “Use Your Illusion”-era lineup of Rose, Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and guitarist Gilby Clarke last performed together at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 17, 1993.

Guns N’ Roses most recent live shows – with lone original member Rose – took place as part of the band’s 2014 residency at the The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
