Directed by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn – who previously directed the 2010 Rush documentary "Beyond The Lighted Stage" – the film will premiere on September 16 at TIFF, with a subsequent public screening on September 19.
It will also air on Canada's CBC network on September 23 as part of the series "The Passionate Eye".
"Neil Peart: No One's Disciple" documents the late Canadian musician's tough start as a young artist, followed by his meteoric rise. The film includes interviews with Rush co-founders Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, alongside reflections of other acclaimed drummers.
It also features Lee and Lifeson's new live performances of Rush classics – with the likes of The Police’s Stewart Copeland, Tool’s Danny Carey, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree and King Crimson filling Peart's seat at the drum kit.
The 2026 Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 10 through September 20.
Peart passed away in January of 2020 at the age of 67 after a three-and-a-half year battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer known as Glioblastoma.
Lee and Lifeson recently returned to action under the Rush banner: the “50 Something Tour” has been built as a tribute to the iconic drummer, with the duo joined by acclaimed drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold.
The special "evening with" performances feature two sets each night, with Rush building every setlist from a catalogue of 40 songs for this tour spanning the band's celebrated five-decade career across.
